SIMA INDIA SDG CHALLENGE

 Join the first cohort of SIMA India and participate in the SIMA INDIA SDG CHALLENGE to create lasting impact in your school and community. By bringing the SDGs to life through global short documentaries + lessons, SIMA empowers educators and inspires learners to create the change they wish to see in the world.

Impact starts with one thing: inspiration.

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE

You must be an educator teaching grade 7-12 and up in India. You must be interested in the SDGs and willing to facilitate the SDG Challenge with your students. This involves 1) accessing the SIMA Academy platform to learn and get inspired by SIMA films about the SDGs you and your students care about, and 2) implementing an impact project in your community or school with the assistance of SIMA’s lesson guide. IMPACT PROJECTS can include: community awareness and outreach projects, local or global campaigns, as well as media and mixed media projects (visual, literal and audio), and more.

 WHAT YOU CAN WIN

Our advisory committee will select the winning class project and will award the following prizes for 1 teacher and their entire school. Participating students are also encouraged to submit their impact project to compete for the SIMA Student Award.

 HOW TO GET STARTED

Begin your participation in the SIMA India SDG Challenge with the following steps before August 5, 2024.

STEP 1. Sign Up here for 9 months free access to SIMA Academy using your email and this ACCESS CODE: SIMA4INDIA (case sensitive/ code active for registration until August 5)

STEP 2. Utilize the SIMA SDG Challenge LESSON GUIDE to help your students investigate the SDGs they care about, and follow a path of inquiry, film viewing, collaboration and reflection, as you plan and implement an impact project for your school or community. 

STEP 3. REPORT YOUR IMPACT by February 4, 2025 via this form. We will ask you about the film(s) that inspired you, the planning resources you used, the impact of your project and what lessons you learned. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED MARCH 12th, 2025

All participating educators can enroll in the hands-on virtual professional training and ONLINE COURSE | “SIMA SDG Challenge: Advancing Media Information Literacy (MIL) and Global Citizenship Education through the Power of Film”

  • Enrollment begins August 7 2024.
  • Course starts September 2, 2024 through February 4, 2025.
  • Self-paced
  • 4 live sessions
  • Duration 4 weeks. Capacity 35 Educators.
  • All registered participants of the SIMA India SDG Challenge will receive a notification to enroll for the course.
